The Tolosa blues festival is beginning to take shape for its twenty-second edition, announcing its first headliners: John Primer, a legendary figure of Chicago blues, and Acantha Lang, a singer and songwriter, currently one of the most in-demand artists.
At 81 years old, John Primer continues to grace the stage, showcasing his distinguished career. Three Grammy nominations attest to his commitment to the guitar and Chicago's characteristic musical style. He is a leading exponent of traditional Chicago blues and a significant influence on the modern blues scene.
Meanwhile, Acantha Lang, born in New Orleans but based in London, holds a Grammy nomination as a songwriter for the song 'Gonna Be All Right' by Robert Randolph & The Family Band. Her music explores old blues traditions while incorporating contemporary elements like criticism of fake news, and she uses her platform to express her pride in being a woman and Black.
The Tolosand Blues festival will take place from June 25th to 28th, also featuring national artists and groups skilled in blues performance, offering a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of the San Juan festivities.
