The 2026 Basque Country Mountain Duathlon Circuit was presented yesterday in Zarautz. The Aia race will be held on October 24th, and Zarautz also joins the circuit this year with its own race on September 26th.

The presentation took place at the Gran Camping Zarautz, the headquarters of the circuit's main sponsor. This new race in Zarautz will be held around the campsite and the Talai Mendi hill. The initiative has been driven by the Zarauzko Triatloi Elkartea and will be the second of the circuit's nine events.
The circuit will start and finish in Gipuzkoa. The races will kick off in Asteasu on September 19th and conclude in Aduna on November 28th. According to the organizers, in addition to Zarautz, the town of Bidania-Goiatz is another new addition to the circuit this year, with its event scheduled for November 21st.
Among this year's novelties, the organizers highlighted changes in the regulations. As before, all races must be participated in, but the scoring system has been modified. From now on, the winner will earn 25 points, the second place 20, and so on. This measure ensures that participants who cannot attend one race still have a chance to compete for the top positions.
As usual, participants can compete in the duathlon circuit in various categories, including mixed pairs. This year, it has also been specified that the ranking for mixed pairs will be considered throughout the entire circuit.
