The Tolosa team finished the Third FEB league in sixth position, falling short of the top four spots that would have granted access to the promotion phase. Nevertheless, in their final game of the season, they secured a decisive victory against the Blendio team with a score of 105-57.
“"We had nothing at stake, but we were clear that we wanted to finish with a good taste in our mouths."
According to the coach, despite leading by only four points at halftime, the second half was exceptional. The team displayed an intense rhythm and high accuracy, achieving a difference of almost 50 points. This allowed them to head into the summer with a “good taste in their mouths.”
Reflecting on the season, the coach expressed pride in the work accomplished and emphasized that the evaluation is positive. Initially, the goal was to maintain their category, but he added that in the last two years, the team has become “spoiled” due to good results, having finished third in the league last year.
The five consecutive defeats at the end of the league were the main reason their promotion hopes faded. The coach explained that the team maintained a very high level throughout the season, but injuries and a decline in training quality during the forty days between carnivals and Easter had a significant impact. As a result, they lost their advantage for the promotion phase and ultimately fell just one game short of entering the top four.
“"I am proud of the season we have had, and the assessment is good."
The coach highlighted that Iruki TAKE is a team from a small town, composed of players from the valley, and they compete against reserve teams of ACB clubs with much larger budgets. Therefore, he praised the high level of the players and the effort put in.
With the league concluded, the team has rested this week and will continue training in May and June in preparation for the next season. The coach will not continue leading the main team but will remain as the club's coordinator. He believes that a cycle has ended and that the change will be beneficial for the players.
