This new space will offer services such as tools for job searching, entrepreneurship support, and procedures and aid for public and private rentals. Through the City Council's Youth Department, young people will receive advice, information, and training to achieve independence in the city. Additionally, workshops and courses will be organized to support the development of their life projects.
According to the Councilor for Youth, Iñigo García, the goal is to enable young people living, studying, or working in San Sebastián to access the necessary tools for a process of autonomous living and personal development.
In addition to face-to-face services, the office will feature complementary programs such as Martx-Up, to promote youth ideas and projects, as well as laboratories and participation spaces to foster creativity, employability, and independent living. García stated that the office also serves as a hub for designing and systematizing new public emancipation policies, generating learnings transferable to other municipalities in Euskadi.
To formally launch the office's activities, several free, in-person talks will be held at Kontadores in May. On the 19th, the talk Youth and Housing: Discover Opportunities and Resources will take place from 18:00 to 19:30, aimed at young people aged 18 to 35. It will cover housing rental and purchase options, as well as the Gaztelagun and Emantzipa aid programs designed to promote youth emancipation.
A week later, on the 26th, Adrian Lopez Sarachaga, Director of Youth and Emancipation for the Basque Government, and Paula Pereda Pérez from the Basque Financial Institute, will provide information on the guarantees the Basque Government will offer to young people aged 8 to 39 for the purchase of their first home, from 18:00 to 19:30. Both sessions are free, but registration is required.
The office's opening hours are: Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 11:30 to 13:30 and from 17:30 to 20:30; and Wednesdays and Fridays, from 17:30 to 20:30.
