Renovation work has commenced on Abaltzisketa's main road, aiming to enhance pedestrian accessibility and safety by leveling the road and sidewalks in front of the town hall.

The works are scheduled to last two months. During this period, in addition to resurfacing the roadway, the road and sidewalks in front of the town hall will be leveled, significantly improving pedestrian accessibility. Furthermore, as stated by the Provincial Council, safer pedestrian crossings will be created, particularly in the section between the church and the hostel near the main street intersection.
As part of this project, a speed limit of 30 kilometers per hour will be implemented on the main road section to reduce traffic impact in the urban environment. The goal is to ensure pedestrian safety by integrating this route into the town center.

"These works are part of the Provincial Council's strategy to improve the safety and integration of main roads in urban centers, for which an investment of over 7 million euros will be made across the territory for the years 2026 and 2027."

In this regard, the Council has highlighted that similar actions are being carried out in other towns in Tolosaldea. In Berrobi, interventions have been made to calm traffic and improve safety; in Villabona-Amasa, the first phase of the new pedestrian connection at the N-I road junction is nearing completion. Additionally, the project for widening the GI-3751 road and constructing a sidewalk between it and Amasa (second phase) will be put out to tender in June. In Amarotz, Tolosa, a bike path and sidewalk will also be built under the N-I, with these works also scheduled for tender in June.
