The Berazubi neighborhood is celebrating its VII Gastronomic Week from Monday to Sunday, featuring culinary competitions and musical events, with a particular focus on increasing participation in the cream puff eating contest.

The VII Gastronomic Week, organized by the Berazubi Neighborhood Association, will run from Monday to Sunday, bringing a lively atmosphere to the neighborhood. This year, organizers are keen to boost participation in the cream puff eating contest, which is one of the main attractions.
Although this championship, scheduled for Saturday, draws a large audience, the number of participants is usually low. The organizers note that typically only two or three contestants register in advance, making event planning challenging. Therefore, they are calling on all those with a sweet tooth to join in. The prize will be 100 euros, with an additional 50 euros for anyone who surpasses the record of sixteen and a half cream puffs set in 2024.
Beyond desserts, the program includes competitions that have been successful in previous years. With no new additions to the lineup, gastronomic societies from Tolosa and Ibarra will once again gather around the stoves. On Saturday, there will be a txuleta (steak) competition, and on Sunday, a cod competition. Throughout the week, other contests will take place, such as sandwich, Russian salad, pintxos, and potato omelet competitions, as well as a dessert contest before the cream puff eating championship.
The musical offerings will also be diverse. On Friday, DJ Small will host a session in the square. On Saturday, Izaskun KEA will provide 80s and 90s music for the afternoon event, and the evening will conclude with a concert by Los Cañoneros, performing pop and rock hits. Additionally, the Gastronomic Week will feature a charcuterie product tasting and talk, and a dessert workshop for children up to 12 years old.
The festive week will conclude with a communal meal, featuring a menu prepared by Euskal Parrilla, with tickets available for purchase at the neighborhood association. Registrations for the competitions are still open.
