Over the last decade, Alkiza has become a reference point for artistic creation, and this year, it will once again open its doors to bring two artists' projects to fruition. The City Council has launched the call for the Sormenaren Kabia Grant, and creators will have until May 27 to submit their proposals.
The residency is aimed at creators from all artistic disciplines, including music, literature, dance, architecture, plastic and visual arts, and cinema. They can participate individually or in groups, with original projects that have not been previously published or awarded.
As usual, the jury will select two creators, who will undertake a three-week residency in Alkiza to develop their project. The residency will take place between September and December, and they will have access to the City Council's infrastructure and resources. Additionally, they will receive a financial aid of 1,800 euros to carry out their idea.
To evaluate the projects submitted to Sormenaren Kabia, the organization has formed a jury composed of professionals from various disciplines. The jury members are experts from the art world and will consider the quality and originality of the project, the artistic trajectory, the feasibility of the proposal, and its connection to the context of Alkiza.
The selection process will consist of two phases. First, a documentary evaluation of the submitted projects will be carried out, and if deemed necessary, in a second phase, interviews with the candidates will be conducted to gain a deeper understanding of the proposals.
Since its first edition in 2018, the Sormenaren Kabia project aims to promote and highlight the potential of rural areas for cultural development, fostering artistic creation. The initiative seeks to strengthen ties between creators and the local community, and during their stay, artists carry out various activities with both students and citizens.
