Several Álava localities will join the celebration of San Prudencio, the patron saint of the territory. Municipalities such as Llodio, Amurrio, Elciego, Laguardia, Okondo, Artziniega, Oyón, or Ayala will organize various events in his honor, including parades and drum performances.
Village festivals are returning with vigor in 2026, reviving a deeply rooted tradition in popular culture. Hundreds of towns will celebrate their festivities this summer across Álava. The councils of Mendialdea, Lautada, Rioja Alavesa, Gorbeialdea, Treviño, Vitoria-Gasteiz, Añana, and Ayala will host various celebrations. DJs, orchestras, open-air dances, and numerous groups will provide the music.
The festival calendar is indicative, based on dates from previous years. However, there may be variations between the actual and estimated dates in some cases. During the second weekend of June, towns like Murua, Zalduondo, and Ametzaga will celebrate their festivals. In mid-June, Ozaeta and Maeztu will be the protagonists. The fourth weekend of June, coinciding with San Juan, Laguardia, Araia, Llodio, and Amurrio will hold their major festivities.
The month of July will also be full of festivities. The first weekend will see participation from Trespuentes, Elburgo, and Elciego. The second weekend, Okina and Zuhatzu-Kuartango. The third weekend, Zuhatza and Gurendes. And the fourth weekend, Villanueva de Valdegovía, Marieta-Larrinzar, and Zigoitia, among others, will celebrate their festivals, including the Celedón festival in Zalduondo.
In August, celebrations will continue. The first weekend will be Labastida's turn. The second weekend, August 15th, towns like Villanañe, Nanclares de la Oca, Amurrio, and Llodio. The fourth weekend of August, Oyón, Okondo, and Lagrán. In September, the first weekend Santa Cruz de Campezo, Artziniega, and Elciego. The second weekend Alegría-Dulantzi and Legutio. In October, Mendoza on the second weekend and San Martín Zar on the last. Finally, on November 11th, San Martín's Day, Laguardia and Labastida will celebrate their festivals.
