The celebration included not only current members but also former dancers who have been part of the group over the past six decades. Accompanied by the Mokilmazo Samalda txistulari ensemble, all participants—children, youth, and adults—marched in a procession to Fernando Eskoriatza square. There, they performed various dances to enthusiastic applause from the audience.
Ane Arrieta, a member of the management, expressed her satisfaction with the event's success: "We are very grateful because more people attended than we expected. Many who used to dance in the past, even if they didn't dance today, wanted to be part of this, signed up for the meal, and came to watch."
Following the dance performances, the organizers had a small surprise. They invited the Mokilmazo Samalda txistulari group to come down from the stage for a tribute, acknowledging their work throughout the years.
The txistulari group was not the only one honored at the event. From the outset, the celebration remembered Mario Padilla, as the anniversary coincided with the centenary of his death. The dance group was founded under the guidance of this Eskoriatza-based txistulari, and he was given a deserved recognition during this anniversary.
The main event held in Fernando Eskoriatza square was fully covered by Goiena and will be broadcast by Goiena Telebista on Thursday, May 21st, at 10:00 PM; it will also be available on the Goiena.eus website afterwards.
The Goroarri dance group looks to the future with optimism. As group members explained, the ensemble has seen a significant upward trend in recent years, and they are very pleased with its current standing. Participation has steadily increased, drawing more and more residents into the world of dance, with a notable rise in interest from younger generations. Therefore, they aim to maintain their past efforts and current direction moving forward. Goroarri intends to continue strengthening the role of dance within the community.
