According to the companies responsible for the project, the restoration works on Butrón Castle "are progressing according to the established timeline and are entering their final phase, consolidating a project that combines the enhancement of one of the most unique heritage sites in the territory with a highly specialized technical intervention".
Initiated in 2024, the works have allowed for a comprehensive approach to the monument's conservation needs, through a phased plan that has ensured the correct execution of each planned action and the fulfillment of project milestones.
Under the direction of Verónica Quintanilla Crespo, an architect specializing in heritage restoration, the technical team has focused the intervention on the structural resolution of pathologies detected in previous studies, especially those linked to deficient rainwater drainage, identified as the main cause of the building's deterioration.
The intervention has allowed these processes to be corrected from their origin, reinforcing the durability conditions of the complex. Currently, structural and material conservation interventions, as well as all installations, have been completed. The work is in the interior finishing phase, with the goal of completing the intervention before the start of summer.
The project has been developed under criteria of minimal intervention and maximum respect for the building's historical configuration, ensuring the preservation of its material, formal, and documentary authenticity. All actions have been executed in accordance with principles of reversibility and material compatibility, avoiding alterations that could compromise the historical interpretation of the monument and ensuring coherence between the adopted solutions and the original construction techniques.
