This project, which integrates commerce and hospitality as essential services, has received a contribution of 92,478 euros from the Department of Food, Rural Development, Agriculture and Fisheries of the Basque Government. This aid was granted within the framework of LEADER programs, aimed at supporting projects that contribute to economic diversification, job creation, and population retention in rural areas.
This investment is part of the Basque Government's strategy to strengthen the social and economic fabric of towns, promoting models that guarantee access to basic services under equal conditions and foster territorial cohesion. BurgeLUR addresses this approach by integrating commercial, social, and community functions into a single space.
“"Rural development is not built solely with large infrastructures, but also by supporting close and useful initiatives."
Beyond its economic dimension, the project serves as a meeting point for residents, facilitates access to local products, and strengthens the relationship between producers and consumers. The initiative has been developed through a participatory model that has involved various local agents, contributing to its long-term roots and sustainability.
“"Guaranteeing services in towns is key to offering equal opportunities to all citizens, wherever they live, and for our towns and councils to remain vibrant spaces, with activity and a future."
The Department of Food, Rural Development, Agriculture and Fisheries of the Basque Government maintains among its priorities the promotion of initiatives like BurgeLUR, which combine economic development, social cohesion, and sustainability, contributing to a more balanced and resilient territorial model. The experience of BurgeLUR joins other actions financed through LEADER aid, aimed at strengthening rural areas as spaces of opportunity, innovation, and quality of life.
