The celebration began last weekend with the presentation of Tras las huellas de Darwin y Pizarro a la ciudad sagrada de los incas. The program continues this week, and on Tuesday, author Xandra Bilbao will present her novel El resurgir de las sorgiñak at 7:00 PM in the Manu Yanke hall of the Town Hall.
The Barakaldo-born author Bilbao delves into the heart of Basque mythology through the characters of María and Aiza, exploring the figure of the sorgiñak and the evolution of ancient beliefs that were forced to adapt to survive the passage of time.
On Thursday, the same venue will host the presentation of Esnatu ala hil by Garikoitz Goikoetxea. This book, titled Despierta o muere. El presente y el futuro del euskera, a la luz de un diagnóstico, has been published by sociolinguist Iñaki Iurrebaso and Basque language technician Goikoetxea. The work is clear and concise, written to be understood by any Basque speaker.
The program will conclude on Friday with the presence of author Belén Fernández, who will discuss her work ¿Dónde está mi gato?. This children's literature story narrates how Nera searches for her cat Flis, following the clues she finds. The Miranda-born author, despite her experience in fantasy literature for young adults, decided to venture into the children's genre with this title.
