Last Saturday, Agurain became the focal point for Lautada dance, bringing together three prominent regional groups to foster cultural transmission and camaraderie.

Agurain hosted the second edition of the Llanada Dantzaris Encounter, an event that brought together three significant dance groups from the Llanada Alavesa Cuadrilla: Haize Dulantzi Dantza Elkartea, Asparren Dantza Gorri Taldea, and Jeiki Dantza Taldea. This gathering aims to enhance Basque culture and strengthen relationships among participating associations.
According to the organizers, the purpose of the encounter is not only to showcase choreographies but also to highlight the intangible heritage of Lautada and promote cultural transmission among the different generations of dantzaris living in these towns. San Juan Square vibrated with the energy of the participants, with groups arriving from Araia, Dulantzi, and the hosts from Agurain, who demonstrated their skill in a crowded square.

"For us, coming to Agurain is always special. After so many rehearsals, seeing the young people with such energy confirms that our culture is still very much alive."

There were moments when members of all three groups shared the stage and danced classic repertoire pieces in unison, and others where each group offered original pieces. The young participants emphasized the atmosphere of camaraderie, stating that the encounter was more a day of coexistence than a mere exhibition.

"More than an exhibition, today is a day of coexistence. We learn from each other, share steps, and above all, celebrate that we are part of the same tradition that refuses to disappear."

Over a hundred people, including participants and their families, gathered for a communal meal at the ikastola's sports center. The event concluded with a Dantza Plazan, where residents and visitors could join the dantzaris, reaffirming that in Agurain, dances are not just a spectacle, but the shared heartbeat of a community.
