The Kaleka International Street Arts Festival in Lekeitio, organized by the municipal Culture department, is seeking volunteers to participate in the event running from July 3rd to 5th. The festival will fill the town's squares and corners with the latest multidisciplinary artistic proposals.
Organizers highlight it as an opportunity to gain professional experience, work in festival coordination, immerse oneself in contemporary creation, and meet new people. This year, registered volunteers will receive a special two-hour training session called 'Ikuslearen Hiztegia' ('Spectator's Dictionary'), designed to playfully introduce key concepts for better understanding and enjoyment of live street arts.
Applications are open until the 14th via the festival's website. The sole requirement is to be of legal age, along with enthusiasm to participate in one of Lea Artibai's most significant cultural projects.
Volunteers will be responsible for liaising with artists, supporting invited companies, preparing venues, assisting with setups, safeguarding materials, and ensuring the safety of performances. They will also manage public relations, providing information about the festival program.
Kaleka will maintain its established structure. The official section will blend diverse disciplines and languages, merging international perspectives with local offerings. Meanwhile, 'Kaleka Scratch' will showcase works in progress, focusing on interaction and shared reflection with the audience, while 'Kalekaz Blai' will feature various activities in collaboration with local associations.
