This competition not only fosters citizen creativity but also annually becomes a reflection of the festive identity and popular culture. The contest will feature two main categories based on participants' age: an adult category for those 16 years or older, and a children's category for those under 16 years. Participation is open to all, individually or in groups. As a new measure to ensure equal opportunities, last year's winners will not be eligible to participate in this edition.
Regarding the creative process, there is complete technical freedom, but specific technical conditions must be met. Furthermore, the use of artificial intelligence for image creation is prohibited. The mandatory text that must appear on the poster is: KARMEN JAIAK 2026 MARKINA-XEMEIN. From July 15 to 19.
“"The City Council has emphasized that the images on the poster must respect a gender perspective. Thus, the use of sexist images or language is prohibited, as are works that promote prejudices based on stereotypical roles, homophobia, or xenophobia."
Works can be submitted at the Berton office of the city hall (mornings), at the Municipal Police (afternoons and Saturdays), or at the Uhagon cultural center. To protect the author's anonymity, a special system will be used: a pseudonym must be placed on the back of the poster, and along with it, the author's personal data will be included in a sealed envelope. Those submitting their works in digital format must do so via USB, following the same procedure.
The jury will be composed of two municipal representatives and three citizens who are experts in plastic arts. The winner of the adult category will receive a prize of 500 euros, and the children's category winner will receive 150 euros. All submitted works will be displayed at the entrance of the city hall.
