Members of the Trintxa Zurlanketa Elkartea association invest significant time, dedication, and affection into their creations. The exhibition, located on Muguru street in Galdakao, is free to enter and will be open until April 19. Visitors can admire a wooden rendition of Picasso's Guernica, an 18th-century Spanish frigate, the Eiffel Tower, and the Vizcaya Bridge.
Additionally, the display includes beautiful violins, harps, hurdy-gurdies, numerous boxes, eguzkilores, picture frames, and Athletic shields, all meticulously sculpted with such detail that they captivate the observer.
“"As long as the tools don't fall from my hands, I will continue creating things."
The group is already planning future projects, such as creating scaled-down replicas of the Spanish frigate, designed to “fit in a display cabinet.” They also intend to recreate the Vizcaya Bridge in wood, inspired by the impressive work of 10,198 screws crafted by Ángel Díaz. At 84 years old, Díaz is the driving force behind the Trintxa Zurlanketa Elkartea.
Residents of Galdakao and surrounding areas will have the opportunity to view the pieces and receive explanations about their creation over the years. The exhibition opened on Friday, with members working diligently to organize and arrange the carvings, available from 11:00 to 14:00 and from 17:00 to 20:00.
