The Ugao City Council will launch a new Empowerment School next autumn, aiming to strengthen women's autonomy and participation. The school seeks to promote individual and collective empowerment, as well as provide spaces for building networks among women.
The program includes various workshops, such as Yoga, jewelry making, sessions on the pelvic floor, and self-defense. According to municipal representatives, these activities will address the body and self-care, creativity, autonomy, security, and collective reflection.
The sessions will take place at the Jane jauregia from October to December. The Yoga workshop starts on October 5th and concludes on December 21st. The jewelry making workshop runs from October 7th to December 9th. The pelvic floor workshop will be held from October 6th to December 15th, and the self-defense workshop on November 28th. Additionally, a documentary will be screened on November 12th.
Registration for participation in the activities will be open until September 30th, at the City Hall or directly at the Jane jauregia.
As explained by municipal representatives, the School will offer women opportunities to share knowledge and experiences related to their bodies, well-being, creativity, and autonomy, while also aiming to foster relationships and mutual support among women, building a shared space of trust.
Meanwhile, Adif will commence work in the coming days to stabilize an embankment on the railway line between Ugao and Arrigorriaga. This project has a budget of 1.24 million euros and aims to consolidate the railway infrastructure, reducing the risk of material falling. Following the works, it is expected that train speeds can be increased.
Furthermore, the registration period for the Ugao leisure monitor course is open until September 23rd. The course will consist of 150 theoretical hours and 160 practical hours, and registration can be done at the Jane Jauregia or via the municipal website.
Finally, the Harile Cultural Association has decided to leave the Fiesta Committee due to "negative and contradictory attitudes" experienced during the meetings to prepare this year's festivities. The City Council has indicated that Harile is the only collective to have left the committee, and the Gastronomy Contest and workshops they were to organize will be taken over by another association.
