The municipality of Ugao-Miraballes has concluded the public lighting renovation project in the Arandia zone and along the pedestrian path leading to the Leitoki schools. This initiative involved an investment of 40,328 euros and aims to enhance both the energy efficiency and the safety of these frequently used spaces.
Mayor Ekaitz Mentxaka highlighted that "actions like this allow us to advance in our commitment to sustainability." These works are expected to reduce the energy consumption of these facilities, leading to an estimated "annual saving of over 12,000 kWh".
The upgrade involved replacing old light fixtures with high-efficiency LED technology. This ensures adequate and adapted illumination along various points of the pedestrian walkway surrounding the Arandia football field and the route by the Nervión River connecting to the Leitoki school.
Mentxaka further emphasized that "the addition of six new light points at the Leitoki access enhances security and comfort, addressing a need identified in an area heavily frequented by families and students".
