Mutriku will celebrate a new edition of its Malen festivals starting this Tuesday, with events running until Saturday. Residents and visitors will have five days to enjoy the festivities.
This year's festivals will begin with Youth Day on Tuesday, the eve of Malen. The program includes several notable events: the chupinazo and tribute by the Bizixo comparsa (2:00 PM at the txosnas area), a lunch for young people (3:00 PM at the Egaña venue), the festival's chupinazo (6:00 PM), a hand-pelota festival (7:00 PM at Miruaitz), Vespers and Salve (7:30 PM at the parish church), the traditional Larrain dance (8:00 PM), the adult tamborrada organized by the Mandazketa society (11:00 PM), and discomóviles.
On Wednesday, the 22nd, Malen Day will be celebrated. The day's program will start with a wake-up call by the Music Band (10:00 AM); followed by the Main Mass (11:00 AM at the parish church), a concert by the Band (1:00 PM in the Goiko square), a children's park (morning and afternoon at the Egaña venue), sokamuturra (6:00 PM), a rural sports festival, a bertso poteo (8:00 PM from Gaztetxe), a concert by the group Malko (9:00 PM at the txosnas area), fireworks (11:00 PM), and a dance with the group Joselu Anaiak (11:30 PM in the Goiko square), among other events.
From Thursday, the 23rd, Little Malen Day will be celebrated, focusing on children. The day's schedule includes a children's drawing contest (10:00 AM), giants and big-heads (12:00 PM), finals of the children's Madalen championship (5:00 PM at Miruaitz), the show 'Modernoak' (5:00 PM at Zabiel square), the children's tamborrada organized by the Hogar del Marinero society (8:00 PM), and the Esna gazte! discomóvil (9:30 PM).
On Friday, Cuadrilla Day will be celebrated, and on Saturday, the feast of Santiago will mark the closing of the festivals.
