Portugalete will host two associations from Masquefa (Barcelona) during the San Roque festivals, bringing Catalan tradition and culture. On August 15th and 16th, the giants from "Colla Gegantera de Masquefa" and the fire dancers from "Ball de Diables de Masquefa" will participate.
The "Ball de Diables de Masquefa" keeps Catalan culture alive by representing the struggle between good and evil through fire, percussion, and dance. The traditional Catalan devil dance (ball de diables) is a manifestation of popular culture and street folklore.
A new feature this year will be the Drac Bufut, Masquefa's fire beast, a figure with nine fire points that will make appearances during the procession.
This year, on August 16th, the traditional fire bulls will be replaced by a pyrotechnic show offered by this association. The show will take place from the roundabout of María Díaz de Haro along Carlos VII street to the intersection with General Castaños. On the other days, 14th, 15th, and 17th, the traditional fire bulls will be held in Plaza del Solar.
