The Daltonics, a prominent name in Bilbao's rock and roll scene, stands out for its humor and rebellious style. The band, fronted by singer and lyricist Álex Ron, blends subgenres such as pub rock, garage, and punk in their songs, combining contemporary echoes with a touch of coarse humor.
Their latest work was the EP Hoy se sale, released at the end of last year, a clear statement of intent from these mischievous and party-loving musicians who still believe that age is just a number. As anticipated by Álex Ron, The Daltonics has already recorded six new songs which, together with the four from the previous EP, are expected to be released in a new album later this year through the independent label Brixton Records.
“"The world of electronic music, without having to get into 200 BPM techno, seems to me a very good way to rejuvenate with music."
The band's singer has revealed that, despite his rocker background, he has developed a fondness for electronic music in recent years, frequenting venues like Kremlim or Fever's DJ sets in Bilbao. He views electronic music as a way to evolve rock music, following the example of bands such as León Benavente, Cycle, El Columpio Asesino, or Prodigy. This underscores the importance of not being confined to musical styles and being more open-minded.
Humor is one of The Daltonics' defining characteristics, leading to comparisons with groups like Siniestro Total. The singer states that he finds it difficult to write a serious song, as humor is an intrinsic part of his personality. He also emphasizes the essence of pub rock, which unifies classic rock and roll, rockabilly, and fast rhythm and blues with heavy guitars and sharp lyrics with a touch of wit.
