The Security Department of the Basque Government has activated a yellow alert for wind, leading to the closure of a section of El Arenal in Bilbao. According to municipal sources, Bilbao firefighters took action to secure the area after two branches fell from one of the trees.
In response to the incident, the area will remain restricted until the tree can be inspected and deemed safe. The Bilbao City Council has stated that the section will stay cordoned off until gardening services arrive to ensure public safety.
For this Saturday, May 2, between 2:00 PM and 10:00 PM, "intense precipitation" is expected, potentially exceeding fifteen liters per square meter per hour. Additionally, moderate and stormy showers are forecast, which could be locally strong. There is also a possibility of hail between one and three centimeters, and strong to very strong wind gusts ranging from 60 to 80 kilometers per hour.
