Sestao Football Club has taken a new step by expanding its structure and creating Ezkerraldea's first adapted futsal school. Pilot training sessions for this new project will be held on June 5th and 12th, with the support of the Sestao City Council and Haszten. Participation requires prior registration before May 31st by calling 634 405 934 or via the club's website.
This will be the third adapted sports school in Sestao, joining the existing swimming and paddle schools. "Currently, the municipality already has adapted schools in swimming and paddle, and this new initiative will allow us to expand the sports offerings for people with functional diversity," highlighted Borja Ramón, the Sports Councilor for the Sestao City Council.
The Sestao Football Club has been working for nearly two years to make this project a reality. It was during the club's 2024 Christmas charity tournament that they began exploring the possibility of creating an adapted futsal school. "That's where we started discussing the project with Haszten, we liked the proposal, and we are ready to take the reins and make it happen," recalled Gorka Iglesias, president of Sestao Football Sala. This initiative will not only expand the club's structure but also represent a new step forward in its commitment and contribution to the Sestao community.
Since work began on establishing this new adapted futsal school, the organization has undertaken quiet but intensive efforts. A significant part has been the training of club members in adapted sports. The goal is for their adapted futsal team to become a reality at the start of next season, initially not competing officially, but serving as a prelude to entering competitions in the 2027-2028 season.
“"There are people within the club who are already training in adapted sports with the idea that from September onwards it will be another team in our structure, and within two seasons we will start competing."
