The Semana Grande de Bilbao, a well-known festival in the city of Bilbao, celebrates over 40 years of history this year, gathering thousands of attendees.

The streets of Bilbao will be filled with festivities for nine days during the Aste Nagusia. Thousands of people will gather to enjoy the great atmosphere and numerous cultural events.
This festival originated in 1978 following an ideas competition organized by several associations. Previously, summer events were scattered and had little relevance among citizens.
Today, it is one of the most popular and visited festivals in Euskadi. The celebrations will commence with the iconic Chupinazo and the reading of the proclamation, after which Marijaia, the symbol of the festival, will appear on the balcony of the Arriaga Theatre.
The musical offering is a major attraction, with over 100 free performances scheduled across 9 different venues this year, including the main stages at Abandoibarra and Parque Europa.
To conclude the festivities, Marijaia will once again take center stage. The unique character will be burned in the square of the Arriaga Theatre in front of hundreds of spectators, marking the end of Bilbao's Semana Grande.
