The Serantes Kultur Aretoa (SKA) in Santurtzi is undergoing an image renewal. To mark its 30th anniversary, the City Council aims to bring color to the cinema's entrance, with the goal of creating a more attractive space. The local residents will have the final say in choosing the design that will decorate the cultural facility's facade.
This participatory process will allow citizens to choose from three distinct designs. The first proposal, named Basoa, represents a chromatic space where plant presence predominates. The second, Herrie, displays black and white scenes of Santurtzi, including narrow streets, the coast, the sea, and mountains. The third design, Kostaldea, incorporates images of the sea, land, and estuary with simple drawings, also integrating the SKA's own curtain into the entrance of the facilities.
The participatory process will commence on Tuesday, May 5th, and will remain active until May 12th. During this period, residents can cast their votes in person, using ballots and a ballot box provided at the Casa Torre, or through an online form. Once the votes are collected, the City Council will announce the winning design that will give the theater its new look.
Students from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea (EHU) will be responsible for bringing the mural to life on the plaza's retaining wall and the access doors to the SKA.
