The municipality of Santurtzi is set to celebrate the San Jorge festivities in April, featuring an extensive program of over 50 events, including music, dance, parades, and children's games.

Between April 17th and 19th, and from April 23rd to 26th, Santurtzi will be immersed in the celebrations for San Jorge, its patron saint. The program offers a wide variety of activities for all ages, such as musical performances, dance shows, parades, fairground attractions, games, and street theater.
The main day of the festivities will be Thursday, April 23rd. On this day, a high mass will be held at noon in the San Jorge church, followed by a kalejira (parade) by the txistulari band, children's entertainment, and a special event commemorating the centenary of Book Day. For this occasion, writer Toti Martínez de Lezea will give a lecture on Bizkaian mythology.
To mark Book Day, the library network will organize the seventh edition of the solidarity second-hand book market in Juan José Mendizábal square. Proceeds from this market will go to the local writers' association. This initiative will be available from April 23rd to 26th, and on the 25th, wooden games will be provided for the youngest attendees.
Music will have a strong presence at the festivities, highlighting performances by Tolín el Mariachi, the XI Lyric-Choral Gala, the spring concert by the Santurtzi music band, and the 50th-anniversary concert by the rock band Burning. In the evening, DJ Kris Alava, Tribu Cohetes, Moonshine Wagon, and the Sukar Taldea verbena group will liven up the atmosphere. Families can also enjoy children's discos in the park from April 23rd to 26th.
The program, which has been distributed to residents, includes gastronomic competitions, a parade of giants and big-heads, traditional dances, street theater, the 40th anniversary of the 'alarde txiki', a solidarity march for autism, a popular walk to Zierbena, children's parks with inflatables, and other games for the little ones. Additionally, four tourist plans have been organized to explore the seafaring town up close, such as guided visits to the sea museum, Mount Serantes, and various corners of the municipality.
