Additionally, passengers can request stops at any point along the established route, provided the driver deems the conditions suitable.
A Metro shuttle service will also be available during the Santacurtz weekends, connecting Galdakao with the Bolueta Metro station. It will operate on Fridays from 23:30 to 05:30 and on Saturdays from 23:30 to 06:30, with hourly departures. The bus will not depart from Juan Bautista Uriarte street but from near the Ambulatorio, making stops at Ambulatorioa, Urreta, Sixta Barrenetxea, Bengoetxe – La Troka, Olabarrieta, and Aperribai.
Euskotren will also provide a special night train service on Saturdays, September 12th and 19th, on the Matiko/Bilbao – Traña route. The regular Saturday service in Bizkaia and Debabarrena will be reinforced. Furthermore, a bus service for returning to the towns of Arratia will operate on September 12th and 19th, departing from Plazakoetxe at 02:30 and 05:00.
Due to festival events, several streets will be closed to traffic. On September 11th, Juan Bautista Uriarte street will be closed from 18:00 to 21:00 for a parade, and Ganekogorta street from 22:00 to 00:30 for a tricycle race. On September 12th, a section of Juan Bautista Uriarte street will be closed from 16:00 to 20:00 for a bed race. On Sunday, September 13th, Juan Bautista Uriarte street and the access to Zabalea will also be closed for a goitiberas descent and other events. Muguru street will also be closed on weekends due to orchestra setup and performance, and Gipuzkoa street throughout the weekends.
Furthermore, local stakeholders have reiterated their commitment to zero tolerance for sexist violence during the festivities. Through the 'Without sexist aggressions, Galdakao free' campaign, information will be disseminated, and a 'Punto Morado' (Purple Point) will be set up in the txosna area to offer support. The helpline for the Municipal Program for Assistance to Victims of Sexist Violence (688 719 304) will be active 24 hours a day.
This year, Iskander Sagarminaga and Maria Casillas will serve as the official announcer and the 'txupinera' (firecracker igniter) for Santacurtz, respectively. Both have embraced their roles with enthusiasm and responsibility, calling on citizens to experience the festivities with respect and joy.
In politics, Victor Trimiño will be the PSE's candidate for mayor in Galdakao for the 2027 municipal elections. Trimiño, a councilor since 2019 and spokesperson for the socialist party since 2023, advocates for transforming municipal policy into a tool to improve the quality of life for the middle and working classes.
During the festivities, to combine inter-squad competition with fun and respect, the 'Lemon Award' will be given to those who do not adhere to the rules. The aim is to ensure a healthy atmosphere, and the team accumulating the most lemons will face penalties in the following year's competition.
An extensive program has been prepared for Santacurtz, filled with various events, concerts, sports competitions, and workshops, running from September 11th to 20th. The program details specific events for each day, including parades, races, concerts, championships, and theater performances.
