The management of the Bilbao City Council over the last twelve years has focused on reducing inequalities between neighborhoods and improving local infrastructure by addressing residents' requests.

The municipal government's action in Bilbao has been marked by a constant urban transformation. Beyond major projects, the focus has been on 'stitching' the districts together and reducing the gap between the center and the periphery, with interventions in areas such as Peñaskal, Otxarkoaga, Rekalde, Masustegi, San Adrián, Olabeaga, and Zorrotza.
Municipal work has prioritized the installation of elevators, mechanical ramps, and children's play areas, as well as the pedestrianization of spaces for public enjoyment. These small-scale works have been essential to erase artificial boundaries and strengthen the identity of the neighborhoods.
One of the most recent projects is the transformation of Autonomía street into a boulevard. This long-awaited intervention has begun after overcoming technical limitations derived from the completion of the tram ring and the arrival of high-speed rail.
The strategy has consistently sought consensus with different political groups, ensuring that many initiatives were passed unanimously, while simultaneously boosting the city's international profile through major cultural and sporting events.
