Renfe has announced the suspension of its C-1 line train service between Barakaldo and Santurtzi this weekend, to carry out essential track improvement works.

The railway works will take place near La Iberia station, involving the replacement of sleepers and rails on the metallic bridge. The complete service interruption will run from Friday at 10:30 PM until Monday at 5:00 AM.
To minimize inconvenience for passengers, the railway company will operate an alternative bus service covering the Left Bank, with intermediate stops, starting from Friday at 10:00 PM and continuing throughout the weekend.
Passengers should board the buses at the stop adjacent to Renfe's Santurtzi station. The bus will then proceed to Peñota, picking up residents at the stop located on Reina Victoria promenade, opposite Portugalete's Nautical Club. The next stop will be in Portugalete's 'Mirador de la ría', on Sotera de la Mier street.
The bus will continue to Sestao, making two stops: first on Txabarri street, near number 87, and then in Rivas, in front of the tourist office. The journey will conclude in Barakaldo, right next to the Desierto-Urban train station. For the return trip from Barakaldo to Santurtzi, the same stops will be utilized on the opposite side of the route.
Renfe reminds passengers that bicycles and pets will not be permitted on the alternative buses. Additionally, information staff will be available at both Santurtzi and Barakaldo stations to assist users during the railway service closure.
