The American actress and singer, hailed by critics as the leading star of Broadway's Golden Age musicals, will present her show Songs From a Hat. In this unique performance, she will revisit her extensive repertoire, with the song selection left to the spontaneity of the moment, drawn randomly from a hat.
LuPone earned her first Tony Award for her portrayal of Evita in the original Hollywood production, later adding two more for her roles as Joanne in Company and Madam Rose in Gypsy. Furthermore, she was the first American actress to win an Olivier Award in London for her performance as Fantine in the original production of Les Misérables.
She is considered by critics to be the greatest star of Broadway's Golden Age musicals, having played many of its iconic female characters.
With a career that includes collaborations with writer and director David Mamet and an extensive film and television presence in titles such as Driving Miss Daisy, American Horror Story, Pose, and Hollywood, LuPone will be accompanied on piano by her musical director, Joseph Thalken. Together, they will offer a journey through Broadway standards, lesser-known pieces, and popular song classics.
This concert, her only performance in Bizkaia, celebrates nearly six decades of a legendary career primarily linked to Broadway musicals. Tickets are available, ranging from 28 to 69 euros.
