The renowned folk duo Pantxoa eta Peio begins their farewell tour today in Bilbao's Santutxu neighborhood, with all tickets sold out, before concluding at Barakaldo's BEC in January 2027.

The iconic duo Pantxoa eta Peio, set to receive the Adarra Saria from the Donostia City Council this year, will embark on a tour throughout 2026 before their final farewell with two recitals at Barakaldo's BEC on January 9 and 10, 2027. Only tickets for the first concert are still available, priced at 22 euros, via www.pantxoaetapeio.eus.
The tour will also visit Donostia (May 21), Iruñea (May 24), Lesaka (September 5), Bergara (September 16), and Baiona (December 11). The duo aimed to organize this final tour by revisiting particularly memorable moments from their over 40-year career. This explains the selection of locations that hold special symbolic value for them.
For this Saturday's concert in Bilbao, the duo and older residents will commemorate the recital Pantxoa eta Peio gave in Santutxu on May 8, 1976. The return has been organized by the residents themselves, mirroring that legendary night exactly 40 years ago.

"That is precisely what they remember most: the people. Despite prohibitions and obstacles, and even knowing it was very risky, they want to use this last tour to show their gratitude to those who organized those concerts, as well as to sing with new generations songs that are about to turn 60."

Pantxoa (vocals and guitar) and Peio (vocals) will be joined in this 'last dance' by young Dánae Riaño (bass and backing vocals), born in 2003, and the lineup will be completed by musicians from intermediate generations such as Mixel Ducau (guitars), Iñaki Dieguez (accordion), Gorka Pastor (keyboards), and Josu Erviti (percussion).
The duo has recorded 18 albums, leaving a legacy of Basque folk anthems such as Euskalduna naiz eta maite dut herria, Bai Euskarari, Bakezko besarkada batean, Eguzkiaren muxu, and more recent works like Lapurtar koblariak, Lurra eta maitasuna, and their latest, Beste bat. All these are essential pieces of Basque song heritage. The Basque language, the defense of Euskal Herria, peace, solidarity, love, and freedom are some of the central themes in the duo's discography.
