The Leioa City Council has organized a special concert for September 19th, marking the municipality's 500th anniversary. La M.O.D.A. and Janus Lester will perform in a free event complemented by the "Leioa has a treasure" initiative.

Leioa will celebrate its 500th anniversary with a significant concert on September 19th. La M.O.D.A. and Janus Lester will offer a free performance at the former DOW Chemical grounds, next to the Toyota dealership (Iparragirre 104), starting at 7:00 PM.
In addition to the concert, the "Leioa tiene un tesoro" (Leioa has a treasure) initiative will take place during the day. In the morning, the Marcha Ciudadana A Paso de Peatón (Citizen's March at Pedestrian Pace) will be held, culminating at the Pinosolo Baserri (farmhouse), where those who buried their "treasure" in a tupperware 25 years ago can retrieve it.
As part of the 500th-anniversary program, Still Rising, winners of the Hamaika Soinu contest, will also perform. The concert kicks off at 7:00 PM, followed by Janus Lester at 8:30 PM, and the main act by La M.O.D.A. at 11:00 PM.
The mayor of Leioa, Iban Rodríguez Etxebarria, stated, "The people of Leioa will enjoy a concert worthy of such a special celebration as our town's 500th anniversary. Having two of the most attractive and entertaining bands of the moment come to Leioa, and sharing the stage with a local band, is magnificent news. It will be a night to enjoy together."
The morning events begin at 10:15 AM with the Marcha Ciudadana A Paso de Peatón, starting from the Boulevard de Leioa and heading to Pinosolo. There, objects buried by schoolchildren 25 years ago will be recovered, reviving memories and childhood dreams.
This initiative bridges the past and the future. Children will receive a new tupperware to store a keepsake for the future, which will be buried on October 31, 2026, the date of Leioa's 500th anniversary.
