Heidelberg Materials will hold a public information session on Wednesday, September 9th, at the Edurne Garitazelaia Cultural Center in Arrigorriaga, starting at 6:30 PM. The session will present to the public the strategic decarbonization and circular economy project they intend to develop at the Arrigorriaga plant.
The meeting will also address the modification required by the project in Arrigorriaga's General Urban Planning Plan (PGOU). These changes aim to create general land and equipment systems to facilitate new CO2 capture and management facilities, and to enable a new electrical substation and specific service infrastructures. This will involve adapting local roads, organizing access, and ensuring new routes to nearby farmhouses and hermitages.
The City Council has announced that the gathering at the cultural center will be open to the public, offering attendees the opportunity to learn about the project's technical features and environmental objectives, as well as to clarify any doubts.
In other news, Arrigorriaga will celebrate the Ollargan festivals until September 6th. The Festival Committee and the City Council have organized various events, including song contests, brass bands, children's games, a costume competition, a communal dinner, and a live performance by Leticia Sabater. The program runs from Thursday to Sunday, featuring music, gastronomy, and dance.
Additionally, the Arrigorriaga Municipal Euskaltegi (Basque language center) and the Berbalagun program have opened enrollment until September 22nd. To mark the euskaltegi's 40th anniversary, a 50 euro discount will be offered to those who register before September 10th. The euskaltegi provides courses from A1 to C1 levels, special groups for retirees and youth, and free courses for the unemployed.
At the sports center, the first municipal courses began on September 1st, including Body Cycle, adult gymnastics, zumba fit, pilates, and calorie-burning classes. Aqua Gym, GAP, and Yoga courses will start in October, with registrations open until September 10th for subscribers and until the 21st for others, subject to availability.
Finally, for Arrigorriaga's athletes, Arrigokorrika has organized running sessions for the new season starting September 15th. The group offers adapted training, camaraderie, and a positive atmosphere for both female and male runners.
Furthermore, in the Lonbo neighborhood of Arrigorriaga, firefighters extinguished a fire that broke out in some bushes during the afternoon. Two vehicles from the Basauri fire station responded to the scene, with assistance from the local police.
