Galdakao is set to become the epicenter of mountaineering this Saturday with the celebration of the XI 'Mugarriz Mugarri' march, organized by Ganguren Mendi Taldea with the support of the City Council. The event, held every two years, lives up to its name by tracing a route along the 'mugarri' or boundary stones that delineate the municipal terms of Galdakao and Usansolo, and is conceived as an event combining sport, nature, and the promotion of the Basque language.
This year's edition features two modalities: the extensive route, approximately 50 km, which will start at 07:00 and is integrated into the official long-distance march calendar of the Basque Mountaineering Federation; and the popular route of about 24 kilometers, starting at 08:00, designed for those seeking a more accessible experience.
Both the start and finish lines for both events will be located at the social headquarters of Ganguren MT, at Gipuzkoa street 11 in the urban center of Galdakao. The route will be fully signposted and will include various control and refreshment points along the itinerary, as well as medical assistance to ensure the safety of participants.
Registration can be completed online or by submitting the registration form at the association's headquarters. It can also be sent to the email address gangurenmt@gmail.com. The fee for the long route is 24 euros, and for the short route, it is 20 euros. Non-federated participants will incur an additional charge of 3 and 4 euros, respectively.
More information about the route and tracks can be obtained from the official website of Ganguren Mendi Taldea of Galdakao.
