The festivities in Ugao have concluded, and as every year, the popular bean meal organized by the Popular Movement of Ugao gathered hundreds of people at the Gernika Square fronton. Participants highlighted the good atmosphere of the communal meal and the laughter from the bingo, despite the significant effort involved in organizing the event.
This year, pintxos from Álava, salad and vegetables from Zeberio, sacraments from Ugao, bread from Artea, crianzas from Rioja, and desserts from Laudio were served, along with regional liqueurs.
In related news, Adif will commence embankment stabilization works in the coming days on the railway line between Ugao and Arrigorriaga, specifically between kilometer points 236/700 and 237/250. The objective of this project, with a budget of 1.24 million euros, is to secure this section of the railway infrastructure and reduce the risk of falling rocks and other materials.
These works will involve clearing brush and large vegetation, followed by the installation of a triple-twist steel-anchored mesh and a protective screen at the base of the embankment. Once completed, the speed of trains operating on this section will be increased.
Furthermore, the Ugao City Council has opened the registration period for the leisure monitor course until September 23rd. The course will include 150 theoretical hours and 160 practical hours, with a fee of 360 euros.
Finally, the Harile Cultural Association has decided to withdraw from the Festival Committee due to "negative and contradictory attitudes" experienced during the preparation meetings for this year's festivities. Consequently, the Marmitako and Tortilla competition and the 0.0 cocktail and gildas workshops have been canceled, although the City Council has stated that other associations will take over the organization.
