Etxebarri is gearing up for September with a host of new events and projects. The Kukullaga festivals are scheduled from September 11th to 13th, offering a comprehensive program ranging from social gatherings and community dinners to concerts and competitions. Additionally, enrollment for the Etxebarri Euskaltegi (Basque language school) is open until September 30th for the new academic year starting October 5th, with municipal grants available for language learning and the 'Euskara Bonua' initiative.
In line with its commitment to sustainable mobility, the works to connect Etxebarri with the Basauri-Bolueta cycle path have been completed. This project aims to enhance road safety and improve connectivity between Etxebarri, Basauri, and Bilbao, utilizing naturalized materials in the protected riverside area.
Furthermore, the council is undertaking renovations of the padel courts, a project selected through participatory budgeting. The works are nearing completion, promising safer and more modern facilities. A muralism competition has also been launched for the ArcelorMittal deposit wall, seeking an artistic proposal that will be awarded a 2,000 euro prize.
Lastly, a fire occurred in a residential building in the San Antonio neighborhood. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as the occupants were not home at the time. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, and investigations into the cause are underway.
