The Etxebarri City Council has published the call for grants for Basque language courses in the 2025/2026 academic year, and enrollment for the 2026/2027 academic year is now open.

The Etxebarri City Council has published the call for grants for Basque language courses held during the 2025/2026 academic year. Through these grants, a payment system has been established for euskaltegi (Basque language institute) courses for individuals over 16 years of age. Subsidies will cover in-person and self-learning courses, as well as residential courses (Barnetegis) and stays. Additionally, the City Council will subsidize courses taken at the Basque Summer University.
All residents registered in Etxebarri will be eligible for this subsidy. To facilitate this, the Etxebarri City Council has approved a budget of €12,000.00. The application period for this subsidy will be open from September 1 to 30, 2026. Applications can be submitted online or in person at the Sociocultural Area (2nd floor of the CIME building) between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM.
Furthermore, the 2026-2027 academic year will commence on October 5th at the Etxebarri Euskaltegi. To reserve a place, the enrollment fee must be paid obligatorily before September 30th. The wide range of courses offered by the City Council is adapted to the needs of the residents, with special emphasis on modules for seniors (aitites and amamas) and for migrants (AISA).
This year also highlights the Euskera Bonus presented by the Basque Government through HABE, a new free model that allows learning Basque with a single initial payment and over a period of up to four years. The objective of this initiative is to facilitate access to learning and, above all, to ensure the continuity of the process until real usage capacity is achieved.
The office hours for enrollment at the euskaltegi will be as follows: from September 1st to 14th, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM; and from September 15th to 30th, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
