The Basque Government will develop a strategic plan to promote airport specialization, aiming to enhance Euskadi's air mobility. The bilateral airport body Euskadi-State has made progress in this work, proposing the creation of a working group involving institutions and economic agents.
During the meeting, the regional Executive announced its intention to contract technical assistance to conduct a detailed diagnosis of the Basque airport situation and its future prospects. This strategic plan will consider the arrival of the High-Speed Train and the promotion of sustainable mobility.
The objective is to foster the specialization already being pursued by the three aerodromes. The Basque Government will advance in this endeavor in the coming months, and the analysis will include specific actions to be implemented in Euskadi's airport infrastructures.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has detailed the aspects of the Airport Regulation Document (DORA III) to the Basque Government. Additionally, the possibility of establishing a working forum to plan and address the promotion activities of the three airports has been raised, with the participation of various institutional levels and the economic fabric.
Moreover, the Basque Government has conveyed to the Ministry the resolution to change the name of Loiu Airport to Lehendakari Agirre, which received broad support from the Basque Parliament in its plenary session last Thursday.
