A 46-year-old driver was arrested this Saturday in Trapagaran after fleeing a checkpoint and colliding with a police vehicle, causing minor injuries to two officers.
The incident occurred around four in the morning on a secondary road connecting the towns of Trapagaran and Barakaldo, according to the Department of Security.
Officers involved in the operation stopped a driver who showed clear signs of being under the influence of alcohol or other illegal substances. After ignoring the officers' instructions, the driver fled.
Subsequently, a police pursuit began, and the fleeing driver intentionally rammed a police patrol car that was blocking his path.
The two officers in the vehicle sustained minor injuries as a result of the impact.
The 46-year-old individual was arrested for assaulting law enforcement officers, causing injuries, damaging a police vehicle, and driving under the influence of narcotics and alcoholic beverages.
The arrested man had four times the legal alcohol limit and was driving under the influence of narcotic substances.
