The Bilbao Municipal Police has relaunched a new surveillance and control campaign this week targeting taxis and VTC vehicles operating in the Biscayan capital. According to the Bilbao City Council, the campaign will extend until this Friday, June 26.
Unlike other traffic campaigns, such as those focused on seatbelt usage, alcohol breathalyzer tests, or document verification, inspections of taxis and VTC vehicles necessitate dynamic operations. This is because these services operate continuously throughout the city, making conventional static checkpoints impractical.
The City Council added that this initiative complements the specific surveillance that the Bilbao Municipal Police has been conducting on these types of vehicles during weekend nights since last February. The primary goal is to verify adherence to current regulations and ensure the proper delivery of the service.
