The Basque Government and Renfe have announced a gradual fleet renewal for the C3 line in Bilbao starting this autumn to improve passenger accessibility.

The state railway operator will deploy 11 units of the 447 series. These trains feature floor levels aligned with the platform, facilitating access for passengers with reduced mobility and strollers, replacing the current 446 series models that require climbing steps.
The upgrade will focus on the route between Orduña and Abando stations. This initiative is part of the commitments established following the transfer of railway competencies to the Basque Government eighteen months ago.
Officials held a working meeting at the Ollargan maintenance facility to review the service. The new units are expected to arrive this summer, with the goal of integrating them into the network by autumn following necessary technical adjustments.
