Bilbao Iron Cup Pre-Qualifying Final to Determine Sixth Cesta Punta Pair

The final of the pre-qualifying phase, held at Bilbao's Club Deportivo fronton, will decide the sixth pair to compete in the Bilbao Iron Cup.

The final of the pre-qualifying phase for the Bilbao Iron Cup, a scoring event for the Jai Alai League circuit, will take place this Saturday at Bilbao's Club Deportivo fronton to decide the sixth male pair.

The sixth pair to compete in the men's Bilbao Iron Cup cesta punta tournament, which counts towards the Jai Alai League circuit, will be decided this Saturday in the pre-qualifying final. The match, held at the Club Deportivo fronton, will feature the teams of Astelarra-Zabala and Libois-Ibarluzea.
The event will commence at 6:00 PM with two women's matches: Elaia-Eneritz against Helena-Frida, and Erika-Maia facing Ihart-Arai. The winning pair from the pre-qualifying final will complete the tournament bracket, ensuring a new face in the Iron Cup.
In the men's tournament, five pairs are already vying for the title to be contested on June 5: Aritz Erkiaga-Manci, Urreisti-Basque, and Goitia-Gorka (Group A), in addition to Johan-Atain, Olharan-Lekerika, and the winners of the pre-qualifying round (Group B). The usual format will once again fill Friday afternoons starting from May 1, from 7:00 PM, mirroring previous successful editions.
The first session will see Johan-Atain cross paths with the preliminary phase winners, and Erkiaga-Manci will compete against Urreisti-Basque. The semifinals are scheduled for May 22 and May 29.
In the women's category, Elaia will compete in the quarter-final eliminations. Gogenola has already secured two txapelas, alongside Ihart (2024) and Frida (2025). The starting forward for the Euskal Selekzioa will partner with Eneritz Lizardi to face Helena-Frida. The other match will feature Erika-Maia and Ihart-Arai. Lur-Oaia await the winners of the second match in the semifinal (May 22), while Maite-Maialen will do the same with the winners of the first match (May 29).
