A 30-year-old man was rescued by helicopter from Mount Serantes in Santurtzi after suffering heatstroke. Two other participants in the Galipa Mendi Bira have also been attended.

Minutes before 1:00 PM this Sunday, the organization of the Galipa Mendi Bira reported a runner's indisposition due to the high temperatures. Firefighters, Osakidetza (Basque Health Service), and Ertzaintza (Basque Police) resources were dispatched to the scene. According to the Basque Government's Department of Security, the 30-year-old Spanish participant suffered a heatstroke.
Due to the terrain conditions, it was ultimately the Ertzaintza helicopter, accompanied by members of the Surveillance and Rescue Unit (U.V.R.), that rescued the runner. Two other participants who also began to feel unwell were treated on-site. The aircraft transported the runner to a hospital.
