Basauri will host various cultural events and participatory processes in the coming weeks. From September 18th to 20th, the 54th edition of the Basque Dance Showcase will take place, featuring Iekorako Dantza Taldea, Iremiñe from Berriz, Gure Kai from Deba, the San Lorentzo Dantzarien Kofradia from Pamplona, and the Bolantak from Luzaide. The main event will be on Saturday in Bizkotxalde Park, with a transfer to the Social Antzokia in case of bad weather. The weekend will be complemented by workshops, chorizo tasting, and a romeria on Friday, followed by performances from three Basauri dance groups on Sunday.
Furthermore, Marienea, the Women's House of Basauri, will organize an open day on September 17th, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. This event will offer the opportunity to learn about the residences and resources, and the program for the Jabekuntza Eskola (Empowerment School) will be presented. Several courses and workshops will be offered for the new academic year, including ‘Fake News: truth – post-truth’, ‘Self-care, self-esteem, and workshop for sexual empowerment’, and ‘Car mechanics workshop’. Registration is now open.
The winners of the poster contest to announce the San Fausto festival have also been revealed. The main prize was awarded to Igone Aberasturi Ibarretxe for her work ‘Denok Fauste kalera’. The local prize went to Eztizen Santamaria Ibarretxe for ‘Jaiak, denonak’, and in the youth and children's categories, the winners were Ariane and Aritz Canta Rodriguez.
Finally, the Basauri City Council will launch the participatory budget process for 2027 from September 14th to 27th. Citizens will decide how to allocate 400,000 euros, with proposals being accepted at various locations and through an online platform. The mayor, Asier Iragorri, has encouraged citizens to participate, recognizing that residents best understand the needs of the town and its neighborhoods.
