Barakaldo City Council has announced an investment of €270,000 for the comprehensive upgrade of lighting in the Arteagabeitia neighborhood. The project involves installing the latest generation of LED lights to promote energy efficiency and sustainability.
Specifically, 416 light fixtures will be replaced along Euskadi Avenue, the Ismael Gorostiza roundabout, the Azkue roundabout, Murcia Square, and on streets such as País Valenciá, Juriondo, Andalucía, and Doctor Fleming. The work will be carried out in phases to minimize disruption to pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
Councilor Asier Umaran highlighted that adequate lighting not only reduces energy consumption and emissions but also enhances the sense of security in public spaces, a particularly important aspect in high-traffic areas like Ansio, which hosts events, commercial activity, and daily resident transit.
In addition to these neighborhood-specific actions, the council will allocate a further €2.2 million for the analysis, review, and upgrade of public lighting installations throughout the entire municipality.
