The new budget draft, presented by the governing team to the opposition groups, amounts to nearly 151 million euros. This document rectifies the deficiencies identified in the Personnel Area in the previous draft, which had prevented the approval of the municipal accounts until now.
The budget draft is structured around two main pillars: people and the strengthening of municipal services. Opposition groups have until the 22nd of the month to submit amendments to this document. Once the proposals are reviewed, a committee will be convened prior to the debate on the accounts in the municipal plenary session.
“"We highlight the contribution from Udalkutxa, which increases from 83.48 million to 89.46 million."
Specifically, the draft budget allocates 150.8 million euros. The increase in revenue will allow 47.8 million euros to be allocated to investments and the maintenance of services provided by the Council. This allocation will fund the new street cleaning and waste collection service in the city, as well as projects such as the creation of mechanical ramps on Bizkaia Street in the Arrontegi neighborhood. Furthermore, this fund will advance the goal of providing each Barakaldo neighborhood with a covered play area.
Additionally, the municipal Department of Culture, Basque Language, and Drug Addiction Prevention will receive 20.3 million euros, 2.5 million more than in the last budget. One of the most significant projects in this area will be the launch of the new Bagatza kulturgune, and it will also serve to increase the budget for the local patron saint festivities.
These municipal accounts include a notable increase in the allocation for the Usoa Workshop, which will receive 14.3 million euros, 9.7% more than in the last budget. Moreover, 7.4 million euros will be dedicated to the municipal housing company, Eretza, four million to Inguralde, while the municipal euskaltegi will have a budget of three million euros. Finally, the Barakaldo Antzokia will have a budget of 1.3 million euros to continue establishing the locality as a benchmark in the world of performing arts.
