The Bilbao football club has officially announced the continuity of its president at the helm of the entity until 2030. This decision comes after the Electoral Board proclaimed him, as he was the only candidate presented within the established deadline.
The red-and-white club has validated the candidacy after reviewing the submitted documentation and endorsements, confirming compliance with the requirements set out in the Electoral Regulations. Accordingly, the Athletic Club clarified that, in accordance with Article 77 of the Social Statutes, as only one candidacy was submitted, it was proclaimed without the need for a vote.
“"As only one candidacy was submitted, it was proclaimed without the need for a vote."
The new board of directors consists of nineteen individuals, thirteen men and six women. The three vice-presidents, the secretary, the deputy secretary, the treasurer, and the deputy treasurer will continue in their positions. Additionally, twelve other members complete the board as vocal members.
This will be the president's second term leading Athletic Club. He first took office on June 24, 2022, after winning the elections against the other two candidates. This marks the second time in the club's recent history, since the first elections in 1977, that a vote is not required due to a single candidate. The previous instance was in 2015, when a previous president renewed his term in an identical situation.
