The eighth edition of the Arrigorriaga Ausartak Mountain Race is scheduled for January 16, 2026. The previous edition saw 824 participants, 100 more than the year before. The seventh edition was significantly impacted by rain and mud, with a participation breakdown of 583 men (70%) and 241 women (30%).
Furthermore, the fifth edition of the ‘Emakume Sortzaileen Azoka’ (Creators' Fair), organized by Lamiaena Arrigorriaga Women's House, will take place on October 3rd in Teodosia Ortega Park. Registration will be open from September 1st to 13th, with options for in-person or electronic applications.
The Department of Health and Osakidetza will allocate a budget of 6.3 million euros for the construction of the new health center in Arrigorriaga, with works set to begin in the first quarter of 2028. The new building will be located at the southern end of Teodosia Ortega Park on a 1,564 square meter plot and will feature three new areas: family medicine, maternity-pediatrics, and physiotherapy.
The Arrigorriaga City Council will allocate 6,000 euros for grants to learn Basque in the upcoming academic year. These grants are intended for individuals studying Basque at the municipal Euskaltegi or HABE-accredited centers, with applications due by September 30th. Applicants must be registered residents of Arrigorriaga.
The City Council is backing the ‘Berriro’ digital system to promote local commerce. This platform will offer customers advantages and rewards for their purchases at local businesses, fostering a circular economy and collaboration. Mayor Maite Ibarra emphasized, "Supporting a platform like 'Berriro' is supporting the life of our town."
