Galdakao has organized various events for the coming months. Firstly, the Kurtzea fronton will host preparatory matches for the XX World Paddle Championship on September 26th. Here, the Basque Selection and the Argentinian Selection will compete, offering a chance to see some of the world's best paddle players.
Players from different modalities will participate: in paleta, Iñaki Urrutia and Ibai Perez (Euskadi) will face Roman Maldonado and Mateo Villorou (Argentina); while in pala corta, Jagoba Madariaga and Imanol Ibañez (Euskadi) will compete against Pablo Fusto and Agus Maldonado (Argentina). Before that, a pala larga match will be played between the pairs Uxue Urgoiti-Enara Anitua and Naia Zugaza-Maialen Landajo.
Secondly, the Torrezabal Cultural Center has prepared an extensive program of shows from October to December. In total, there will be 17 live performances and three opera and ballet screenings. The program will combine 'Name and essence', featuring shows of identity and quality, and will host renowned artists such as Patxo Telleria, Jose Sacristan, Clara Peya, the flamenco group Las Migas, and the Da Capo Music Band.
According to the Councilor for Culture, Edurne Espilla, the program will address "current issues to foster and develop critical thinking". Tickets will be on sale from September 24th.
In the labor sector, the street cleaning workers of Galdakao and the temporary company Andra Mari have signed a new agreement valid until 2028. The agreement guarantees a 2% salary increase with IPC guarantee and includes paid leave for learning Euskera, dedicating half an hour of the workday for each hour of study.
Furthermore, during the Galdakao festivities, solidarity actions for Palestine were held on September 18th and 19th, and the festivities concluded with the burning of the cuadrillas' mascots, after the Antzeko cuadrilla was declared champion.
