The Katxalin association has organized a program of activities in Legazpi for International Breast Cancer Day, observed on October 19. This date aims to raise public awareness about the disease and emphasize the importance of early detection to improve the prognosis for affected individuals.
Katxalin is the Gipuzkoa-based association supporting women affected by breast and/or gynecological cancer. Its goal is to accompany women through their illness and help them face the challenges that may arise, offering social assistance, psychological support, physiotherapy, and volunteer aid, among other services. They also work to make the disease visible, promote awareness, and enhance the quality of life for affected women.
The planned initiatives in Legazpi during October include placing a pink ribbon and illuminating the Town Hall with pink lights on October 19. On October 20, a talk titled «Movember, de cerca» will take place at 6:00 PM in the Social Center. Additionally, a solidarity pintxo-pote event will be held in Laubide on the 21st, followed by solidarity stalls at the town square on the 23rd and at the Eroski supermarket on Kale Nagusia on the 24th.
The talk «Movember, de cerca» on October 20 will provide insights into the Movember movement and its work in Urola Garaia, focusing on the prevention of prostate and testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide prevention. This activity is organized by Katxalin in collaboration with the Town Hall's Social Services and will be held at the Social Center at 6:00 PM.
The Town Council of Legazpi encourages citizens to participate in the scheduled activities and join these awareness and solidarity initiatives.
